owner
building designer / architect/ draftsperson
industry professional / contractor
engineer
QBCC registered builder
Quotes turnaround: usually supplied within 3 business days (often sooner!)
Fee proposals are valid for thirty days, or longer (on request).
Required: professionally drawn plans showing as much detail as possible (such as setbacks from boundary or onsite services)
This allows us to provide a more personalised quote.
To issue out a quote accurately and quickly, supply design / architectural / engineering plans that contain the following:
Site plan: property, size and lot information.
Boundary setbacks / measurements showing the distance from the works to the boundaries.
Existing and proposed elevations of the works.
Tips when requesting a quote for certification
💡Know what triggers a building approval - if unsure, check legislation here
Building Regulations 2021 (Schedule One)
💡It is recommended to speak with a design professional / engineer to obtain plans for the works before requesting a quote. Depending on unique site specifics such as overlays, consulting with a Town Planner may determine if the proposed works will require Council Development Approval (DA). More here
💡If you are aware of any public utilities that run through the property, such as sewer lines, stormwater drains and water mains – informing us of their location within the property will help determine if any additional applications are required. Associated timeframes and fees can then be outlined in your quote. More here
⏭️ Once payment is processed, and the signed engagement form received, the plans are forwarded to the certifier for assessment.
Quote Stage: FAQS answered
❕Apologies, we can not provide a paid preliminary consultancy service at this time.
❔Preliminary plans may suffice to get an initial fee proposal together - then as final plans are supplied, please send to BA&A. We'll update the file/ revise your fee proposal as applicable.

However, if plans are not yet available, general pricing and industry contacts can be shared, so please get in touch.

Q: Do I need to get the engineer design before BA&A can start the process?
A: It depends on the project, as requirements can vary depending on the scope of works / site specifics. We can usually hold your quote or project open as project details come together. Always happy to tailor to your needs, so just keep us in the loop for your preferences.
In general, its advisable to begin conversations with your engineers around the same time as arranging the fee proposal with BA&A
Once the project is engaged with BA&A, your certifier can liaise more accurately with project stakeholders. They can then provide feedback on
timeframes
best fit for documentation from other consultants
insights on requirements.
This can help with
streamlining schedules
saving unnecessary cost (eg doubling back to consultants)
